About

Biography

I'm India Gilbert, an abstract artist from Westerville, Ohio. My work is a vibrant tapestry of colors, textures, and forms, drawing inspiration from artists like Basquiat, Jackson Pollock, and self-taught fluid artist Molly Leach. Through my art, I explore the boundless realms of creativity; turning each piece into a unique journey.

As a child, I discovered the magic of colors and design through endless hours of coloring books and doodling. Growing up as the only girl among three brothers, I found solace and a sense of identity in art. It became my therapy, my escape, and my way to communicate in a world where I sometimes felt unheard and invisible.

Enrolling in an arts high school was a game-changer for me. It was there that my creative spirit truly soared, and where I began to channel my experiences and emotions onto the canvas. This period was a turning point, allowing me to overcome my insecurities and embrace my worth as a person and ultimately as an artist. As I transitioned to marriage and motherhood, life got the best of me. I experienced setbacks that put my art on the back burner—I had to take time for myself. I started journaling and reconnecting with the heart of what originally gave me peace—which was art! As a result of these hardships, my creativity exploded.

Today, my work with abstract painting and resin continues to reflect my journey. I infuse my pieces with rich textures and bold colors, inviting viewers to dive into their own imaginations and feelings. Through my business, Creative Vines, I aim to encourage others to explore their creativity and extend it beyond boundaries.

My art is my voice, my history, and my future, all swirling together in vibrant harmony. I hope my work resonates and inspires you to find your own creative path. I believe that art has the power to inspire and motivate, and I strive to create pieces that evoke emotions in my viewers. Whether it's using vibrant colors or dynamic textures, I aim to spark a sense of joy, peace and curiosity in those who experience my art. Thank you for joining me on this creative adventure. It’s my time to shine.

Peace and creativity,
India Gilbert
